Pakistan 2
A quick update- apparently Bush is "calling on" Musharraf to uphold the Pakistani constitution too. But, he is not planning on cutting off any aid to him or his regime; which is smart. (Someone must have told him as much.) However, he wants him to stop wearing his military uniform as promised. Because apparently that matters a lot right now. News reports say that the Bush regime is being forced into a delicate balancing act between destabilizing a nuclear Islamic power, currently an ally, and speaking out against anti-democracy actions. You see that? Our commander in chief, our chief executive, our supposed leader in this war with Islamic Fundamentalists, is worried about being politically correct, even with nuclear weapons on the line. Why doesn't he just have no comment? Why doesn't he help Musharraf do what he needs to in order to stay in power (which is obviously better, since we know Musharraf will cooperate with us), while maintaining as much of a democratic state as possible? Why won't he show any LEADERSHIP!? I assure you, this attempt to oust Musharraf (which is what this is, the UN and such "powers" hardly care about democracy in Pakistan), is an attempt to weaken the United States' position. Pakistan has nuclear weapons, people. This one should be worrying us all right now.
