Okay, so maybe a general swooping in and taking over Washington to institute reforms isn't our best hope. It's not my number one pick to fix things, that's for sure. I think, maybe, as it is late at night yet I can't fall asleep so I think and ramble instead, that our best hope is the creation of a new party. How depressing it is to know how Washington warned us of the party system, and yet I think to myself that a new party might be the only solution. It would surely only be a temporary one.
Putting that aside for lack of the ability to evaporate our political party system, just imagine. A nationalist party. Not like Hitler, and that most certainly would be the criticism that it would face every day. In fact, much of Europe, especially Germany, suffers because of their rejection and fear of the nationaist spirit. Germans are afraid to be Germans and be proud of Germany, because Hitler took it to such an extreme. Now they are overrun by Muslim foreigners, uneducated, who do not assimilate, but rather demand their failure of a culture be brought with them. People in England every day, that is, white English (liberal) people, say that Shariah law ought to be instituted for certain members of their society. The Muslim communities IN ENGLAND ought to have Shariah law, that's what they're saying. That is how suicidally afraid of a nationalistic spirit the Europeans have become. The European Union was the worst idea they've ever thought of.
But we are not Europe, not yet anyway. We could still do it. A party who's entire platform is the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence. Or maybe Michael Savage's big three: borders, language, culture. (Culture includes the founding documents I cited.) Or maybe even God, Family, Country; though I don't like that one as much. It would be a party of Americans, who still believed in American Exceptionalism. We would never be afraid to say that America does it better, that America is the greatest nation, and that, in the list of priorities, AMERICA ALWAYS COMES FIRST! That means, of course, that the American people come first. No more money to fight AIDS that winds up in the hands of dictators. No more bombing the Serbs because it was politically expedient. No more trying to give democracy to people who aren't at all ready for it. No more exporting jobs. No more trade deals that favor third world nations and give us the shaft. No more compromising ourselves!
Either way, for the first fifty or hundred years, before the party was so corrupted that it again became necessary to form a new one, it could very well lead the way to a new America. In some ways, the old America. The better America. I am no fool, I know corruption and greed and all that have existed on some level for all times in all nations, America is no exception. So long as human beings run something, it will be less than perfect. But America has so strayed from the path of "of the people, by the people, [and] FOR the people," something has to be done to bring back that ideal. The system used to be better. It used to represent we the people, not they the special interests. Time is slipping away. With the world changing as it is, with our numerous enemies circling in the shadows, some already engaging us, with new world powers emerging and eyeing our position, with our own culture degrading and our societly breaking down, with our own leadership selling us out and ignoring our wants and needs, with our Constitution being shredded, with our freedoms eroding, with our culture diluting, and finally, with two parties caring nothing more than being in power, something drastic must be done.
Perhaps the Nationalist, or Constitutionalist, or Patriot, or whatever, Party that I envision, who's foundation is a love for traditional America, is just what we need to lead us in the ways of virtue, citizenship, patriotism; away from our curent decadence and decline.

You're right. Special interests have ruined our political system. Not just that though-the people in DC only care about staying in DC and having some power. All the vote trading and lobbying needs to stop! Another thing that's ruining our country started with the "feel good" 60s and 70s. You have to make everyone feel good about themselves, everyone is special, etc. Don't say anything that could lower someone's self esteem. Well, true self-esteem is earned by doing a good job and knowing it-not by someone else telling you you're super when, in fact, you yourself know your work is sub-par. That's what's wrong with society-no one will call a spade a spade anymore and therefore nothing can ever get fixed.
I like the idea of a Patriot Party. One that actually represents the people who elected those politicians in the first place.
